Champlain Cavaliers > Cavaliers News > Volleyball Teams Off to Good Start

The Cavalier Volleyball teams have had a rocky past couple of seasons. This year, however, both teams are off to good starts – each team finished 2nd in their respective tournaments, posting winning records.

The ladies kicked off their season at John Abbott where they posted an 8-2 record and a 2nd place finish, just behind Dawson. The Cavaliers defeated Marie-Victorin (25-15, 25-23), Nouvelles-Frontières (25-18, 25-21), John-Abbott (25-23, 26-24) and Saint-Laurent (25-16, 25-19), demonstrating on multiple occasions that they were able to comeback and win the tight games – something that evaded them last year. Their strong showing allows the team to move up to Section 3 for their upcoming tournament at Marianopolis on October 20th.

The men’s team started their season at Marianopolis with a 3 game tournament. Jumping off to a 3 set win over their hosts Marianopolis (25-20, 25-13, 25-14), the boys ran into tougher competition when they faced St-Jérôme. The Cavs dropped that math 2-1 (26-24, 10-25, 21-25). Their final match against André-Laurendeau was another 2-1 loss (19-25, 14-25, 25-17), but the guys ended on w inning note which helped them lock up 2nd place for the day. They play their next tournament on October 27th.
