The Cavaliers Men’s Soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 draw after a disappointing performance at home to Dawson College, in a game that lacked tempo and fluidity.

Despite their lackluster performance, the Cavaliers managed to take the lead late in the first half when veteran Emmanuel Lucia fired a screamer from 25 yards out that caught everyone by surprise. His shot powered its way towards the corner of the opposing goal and gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead.

The second half didn’t offer anything more than the first half. Teams exchanged possession, with the Cavaliers not being able to settle the ball down and generate that decisive pass in the offensive third to help cushion their lead. The visiting Dawson College Blues played a more direct game sending balls into their forwards which had to be cleared by the Cavaliers back line.

Dawson’s persistence paid off in the 60th minute of play, when  a deep ball played into the Cavaliers box could not be cleared. The Cavaliers lack of focus opened the door for the opposition and they capitalized, making the score 1-1.

The Cavaliers tried desperately to bounce back and press forward, yet their forward pressure did not prove enough. Their best chance was when Julio Moncada Bogran shook off a few defenders and was taken down in the penalty area, but no call was made.

In the end,  the Cavaliers had to settle for a 1-1 tie, and lucky to walk away with it.
