Cavaliers End Season with Bronze in Badminton

Champlain Cavaliers > BAD > Cavaliers End Season with Bronze in Badminton

The Champlain Cavaliers Badminton team wrapped up their year with a bronze medal, after downing Dawson 76-63 in the RSEQ Sud-Ouest Regional Badminton championships this past weekend that was hosted here at Champlain. In their semi-final, the Cavaliers lost a close match to Brébeuf, losing 69-79, but the team managed to come together to take win the bronze final against Dawson that afternoon.

The team finished 3rd overall in the regular season, with a total of 1808 points. Battling a depleted roster, hampered by injuries, the Cavaliers played hard over the year, going 13-11, but scoring high and collecting valuable ranking points; ensuring a playoff spot for the squad.

Excluding the two years that there were no regional finals due to the pandemic, the Cavaliers have medaled in all their playoff appearances with a silver in 2019, a gold in 2022, and now their bronze. Their continued success solidifies their reputation as a growing Badminton program at the college level.

Congratulations and well done to all the squad and head coach Eric Newton for their season!
