wp_ccr_003The Cavaliers Cross-Country team is keeping up it’s reputation for being one of the top teams in both Quebec and Canada. The women’s team has attained the most noteriety over the past few years, with student-athletes like Melanie Hughes, Coraline Tse and Jessica Porfilio continuing their successful CEGEP careers at the CIS and NCAA levels and the team capturing medals at the regional and provincial levels. This year, the ladies are doing well but have been plagued by injuries. The ladies have finished top-5 in each of their races and are looking to be healthy for the upcoming provincial championships.

wp_ccr_002The Cavaliers Men’s Cross-Country team has come into its own and has been the best team in the RSEQ Sud-Ouest conference for the 2013-14 season. With top team finishes at McGill and Laval, the Cavaliers, who are ranked as the 4th best team in Canada by the CCAA,  took a big lead into the Conference championship race last weekend. The team did not disappoint as the they had 4 runners finish in the top-10 and within 30 seconds of each other for an incredibly low score of 109 points for the season – 140 points ahead of the second place team, André-Laurendeau.  The finish puts the men’s team in great position as they prepare for the Provincial Championships which are taking place in Sherbrooke on October 26.

Nassim Ennabaoui from the Cavaliers won the bronze medal for his 3rd place finish for the season. Complete results for both teams can be found on the RSEQ site.

The RSEQ Sud-Ouest Championship hosted by the RSEQ Monteregie and Champlain College Saint-Lambert in cooperation with the City of Longueuil at Parc Michel-Chartrand, location of the 2012 CCAA Cross-Country Nationals. The event was a huge success with huge support from the local community. Local media coverage of the event included articles in Le Courrier du Sud.
