0367_206The Cavaliers Women’s Rugby team took to the pitch last Sunday on a cool and rainy morning to face off against the Cougars from Champlain Lennoxville.

The Cavaliers maintained a good defensive posture throughout the first half, as it wasn’t until the thirty minute mark that the Cougars scored their first try. By the half, the Cougars were up 12-0.

The wet conditions did not stop the Cavaliers who stepped up their game as Casey Benoit scored a try in the last minutes of the game during a penalty play, but it was too little, too late as the Cavaliers fell 22-5 to Lennoxville. Despite the loss, the Cavaliers are looking forward to meeting Vanier head-on when they play on September 29 at Seaway Park 3 in Saint-Lambert.

Rookie Sarah Nellis won player of the match for her outstanding tackles and defensive play.
