wp_mbb_ktFour Cavalier Basketball players were presented awards and more were nominated for various accolades this evening at the 2014 RSEQ College Division 1 Basketball Awards banquet, held at the Holiday-Inn Pointe-Claire and hosted by John Abbott College.

On the men’s side, Kasheem Thomas was nominated for Men’s Rookie of the Year and the team was nominated for the Team Sportsmanship award.

3rd Year guard, Alex Paquin, was named to the Men’s 2nd All-Star Team. Although his season was shortened due to injury, Alex still managed to average 14.2 / game, 7th overall in the league.

The ladies had Coach Georges Germanos  nominated as Women’s Coach of the Year while Metcheline Gabélus was nominated for Rookie of the year.

Second year student-athlete Sirah Diarra was named to the 2nd All-Star Team. Diarra led the league in rebounding, with an average of 11.7 boards per game.

Jeanne Gaumont, 3rd year, was awarded a 1st Team All-Star for the 2013-14 season. With a 14.4 pts/game average, Jeanne was 3rd in scoring in the tough RSEQ conference.

Academic All-Star awards were handed out to Alex Paquin from the Men’s team and 3rd year student Cassandre Legault on the ladies side for maintaining the highest academic averages on their teams over the Winter 2013 and Fall 2013 semesters.
