Craig Norman of the Champlain Cavaliers Men’s Basketball team has informed the college that he is stepping down effective immediately from his position as head coach for personal reasons. In his second stint at the helm of the Cavaliers program, Coach Norman lead the team to the 2013 RSEQ Provincial Championship and a trip to the 2013 CCAA National Championships.

“The Cavaliers and Champlain want to thank Craig for everything he’s done with the program over the past few years. Craig’s impact will have a positive and lasting effect on not only on our Men’s basketball team, but on all of our teams,” said Vince Amato, Coordinator of Athletics at Champlain College Saint-Lambert. Craig, a former CIS Coach of the Year, will remain with Champlain as a mentor coach for the Athletics’ program.

Dan Martin, who played under Norman and also served as an assistant coach at with him at McGill University and at Champlain Saint-Lambert, has been named Head Coach.

The Cavaliers start the second half of the season on January 12th as they play host to Édouard-Montpetit.
