The Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers captured their second Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association medal as the Men’s Cross-County Running Team finished in 3rd place at last weekend’s CCAA National Championship hosted by Seneca College near Toronto, Ontario.
The Cavaliers captured the team Bronze medal, edging the Sheridan Bruins by just six points (111-117). Karl Belley (28:42 – 9 team PTS) cracked the top ten in team points followed by Jasmin Bellerive (29:57 – 26 team PTS), Christopher Quesnel (30:16 – 32 team PTS), Jeremy Burg (30:43 – 44 team PTS), Samuel Cote (31:15) and Emile Garon (32:13). Their 3rd place finish at nationals comes after a 2nd place finish in the RSEQ Provincial Championships in late October and their Gold medal performance at RSEQ Sud-Ouest Regional Championships from earlier that month. The Cavaliers were the highest placed team at this year’s Championship from the very competitive RSEQ Conference.
This is the team’s second CCAA medal. They won their first medal in 2014 in Calgary when the Men’s team placed 3rd in that year’s National Championship.
Congratulations to the student-athletes on their amazing performances and to the coaching staff of Eric Beaudoin and Martin Angel for their great work with the team and program!
