François Chagnon of the Champlain Cavaliers Football team has informed the college that he is stepping down effective immediately from his position as head coach for professional reasons. Coach Chagnon, who was in his 3rd season as head coach, took over the team after the 2011-12 and leaves the team with a 10-9 record over his tenure.

“The Cavaliers and Champlain want to thank Frank for everything he’s done with the program over the past few years. Frank has done did a great job with the team, especially in the areas of academic success, which has seen a great improvement during his time here,” said Vince Amato, Coordinator of Athletics at Champlain College Saint-Lambert.

Defensive Coordinator, Sebastien Deschamps, will be taking over as interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Deschamps, who joined the team as DC last winter, has played an integral role in the Cavaliers success so far this season, with their defense only giving up 18 points after 3 games.

The Cavaliers continue their 2014-15 campaign as they play host to Outaouais on September 28th with a 13:30 kick-off.
